16 killed in traffic accident in Sudan

At least 16 people were killed and 19 others injured on Tuesday in a traffic accident in Sudan, Sudanese police said.
The accident occurred early on Tuesday on the western highway linking the cities of Omdurman and El Fasher in North Darfur, said the press office of the Sudanese police in a statement.
The accident took place at Sheikh Hamad area, west of Omdurman city, when a passenger bus, coming from El Fasher to Khartoum, swerved off the road and collided with a truck that parked outside the road, it added.
Sudan is among the countries with the highest death rates in traffic accidents, mainly due to careless driving, poor road conditions and poor vehicle braking system.
