Net migration hit a new record in Germany in 2022 as 1.5 million more migrants arrived in Europe’s most populous country than left it, according to the data
released by the Federal Statistics Office on Tuesday.
The biggest inflow, about 1.1 million, came from Ukraine as people fled the country following the Russian invasion.
In the previous year, the total figure stood at 329.000, which is four times lower than in 2022.
