Protesters halt men’s world championship road race

Protesters interrupted the men’s road race at the UCI World Championships on Sunday, halting the peloton.
After around 80 km of the 270 km (168 miles) route starting in Edinburgh, the road was blocked as a nine-rider breakaway group approached.
The race was stopped shortly before the day’s Crow Road climb, with an ongoing delay of 20 minutes.
It was not immediately clear who the protesters were or what group they were representing, although several sporting events in Britain have been targeted by Just Stop Oil this year.
