Myanmar organizes equestrian contest to select SEA Games competitors

Myanmar’s equestrian federation organized a 50km endurance contest in Naypyidaw on Sunday to select competitors for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
“We cannot compete in the SEA Games just by having riders and horses. In order to compete in the SEA Games, preliminary competitions should be held to meet the quality of riders and horses,” U Win Aung, central executive member of Myanmar’s equestrian federation, told Xinhua.
The equestrian contest consists of different distance categories in 50km, 60km, 80km and 100km. Competitors will earn one star if they pass all distance levels. With the one-star level that is recognized by the International Equestrian Federation, competitors can compete in the SEA Games, he added.
“There is still time to practice as the SEA Games will be held in 2025. We will select the horses and riders through the competitions,” U Win Aung said, adding that 23 contestants competed in the 50km endurance contest.
