Chinese firm donates 30,000 USD to Afghan quake victims

Chinese mining firm MCC-JCL Aynak Minerals Company Ltd. (MJAM) donated 2.27 million Afghani (30,000 U.S. dollars) to the quake-affected families in west Afghanistan’s Herat province on Thursday.
In a ceremony attended by Shahabuddin Delawar, the acting minister for mines and petroleum in the Afghan caretaker government, Zhang Jikui, the company’s representative, handed the donation over to the Afghan side.
Welcoming the donation, Delawar said it reflects the friendship between the people of China and Afghanistan.
Earlier, Afghanistan-based Chinese citizens donated more than 17,000 dollars to the quake-affected people in Herat.
Two earthquakes each with a magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale, followed by several aftershocks, rocked west Afghanistan with an epicenter in the Zanda Jan district of Herat province on Saturday, leaving at least 2,053 dead and thousands more injured.
