3 foreigners arrested in Cambodia for trafficking over 100 kg drugs

The Anti-Drug Department (ADP) said on Saturday, Cambodia’s anti-drug police have arrested a gang of three foreigners for allegedly trafficking illicit drugs, confiscating over 100 kg narcotics.
Two Thai men, Wasin Saekue, 24 and Saeli Chinnawat, 18, as well as Laotian man Cheng Veut, 35, were apprehended on Thursday during a raid on a house in the capital Phnom Penh’s Prek Pnov district after an investigation for several months.
The ADP said in a statement, “A total of 101 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine was seized from the trio during the crackdown.”
The Southeast Asian country has no death sentence for a drug trafficker. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be jailed for life.
According to the ADP, Cambodia nabbed 16,668 drug-related suspects, including 396 foreigners, during the January-October period of 2023, seizing 2.72 tonnes of narcotics.
Most of the seized drugs were heroin, ecstasy, ketamine, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills and cathinone.
