Renewed South Sudan fighting displaces Jonglei civilians, obstructs aid delivery

The intercommunal conflict in South Sudan’s Jonglei State has ratcheted up, leaving displaced civilians urgently in need of food, water, shelter and healthcare, UN humanitarians said Tuesday.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said fighting has intensified across northern and central Jonglei State, leading to large-scale displacement, limiting aid delivery and triggering a shutdown of essential services. Road and river traffic is blocked, and humanitarian flights have been barred.
