14 killed, 16 injured in traffic accident in central Sudan

At least 14 people were killed and 16 others injured Thursday in a road accident in central Sudan’s Gezira State, according to Sudanese police.
The accident occurred near the Al-Hilaliya area on the road linking the towns of Abu Usher and Wad Al-Majdi, when an intercity passenger bus collided head-on with another passenger bus, the Sudanese Traffic Police said in a statement.
Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was likely caused by a technical failure, according to the statement.
Legal procedures have been launched under the supervision of relevant prosecution authorities, it said.
