3 dead after small plane crashes near Washington, D.C.

Three people died after a small aircraft crashed late Saturday in the U.S. state of Maryland, east of Washington, D.C., the Maryland Department of State Police said on Sunday.
A preliminary investigation suggests the plane crashed in the wooded area of a park in the city of Bowie around 11:30 p.m. Saturday local time (0430 GMT Sunday), the department said in a post on social media platform X.
The single-engine aircraft was flying from Ocean City, New Jersey to Montgomery County Airpark, a public airport in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
The victims included the pilot and two passengers, the department said.
