Laos urges public to stay alert over heavy rainfall

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology under the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued a heavy rainfall warning, forecasting thunderstorms and very heavy rainfall across eight provinces nationwide from Aug. 18 to 21.
The warning notice issued on Monday said a low-pressure trough moving across northern and central Laos, combined with the southwest monsoon and strong winds in some areas, is expected to bring light to moderate thunderstorms across the country.
Authorities have urged local communities, organizations, and residents to remain vigilant and prepare for several consecutive days of moderate to heavy rainfall, which could lead to flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding.
