Japanese actor Kenshin Uemura was convicted of molesting a female translator at the after-party for a fan meeting in Hong Kong and fined $15,000 at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts.
In sentencing, Magistrate Yu Chun-cheung noted that the female victim repeatedly used body language to indicate her disapproval, but the defendant ignored her and escalated his behavior. He also condemned the defendant’s behavior as clearly disrespectful to women.
