{"id":71865,"date":"2026-09-16T10:59:00","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T02:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/multimetro.hk\/plus\/2026\/09\/16\/south-korean-court-orders-north\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T10:59:00","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T02:59:00","slug":"south-korean-court-orders-north","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/multimetro.hk\/plus\/2026\/09\/16\/south-korean-court-orders-north\/","title":{"rendered":"South Korean court orders North"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Seoul court on Wednesday ordered North Korea to pay 44.6 billion won ($32.5 million) in damages over its 2020 demolition of an inter-Korean liaison<br \/>office, South Korean media reported.<br \/>South Korea&#8217;s previous conservative government, led by former President Yoon Suk Yeol, filed the suit in June 2023.<br \/>2024 martial law declaration.<br \/>The Seoul Central District Court ruled in favour of the South Korean government, ordering Pyongyang to pay the full 44.6 billion won sought by Seoul for the demolition of the building.<br \/>The court also ordered North Korea to bear the litigation costs.<br \/>The court and North Korea&#8217;s embassy in Beijing did not<br \/>immediately respond to requests for comment.
